Doctors & Staff

Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make South Valley Eyecare the leading provider of vision care products and services in South Jordan.

Dale F. Hardy, O.D.

I was born in Heber City, Utah, although my family lived in Midway until I was a little over a year old. At that time, my family, plus several uncles and their families, moved to Morenci, Arizona. The house I lived in no longer exists. The entire neighborhood disappeared as the open pit copper mine grew. My family moved to Needles, California when I was 8 over the protests of my mother who thought it was too hot. They lived there for 44 years. I graduated second in my class from Needles High School.

From there I went to Brigham Young University studying Electrical Engineering for one year. After 2 years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Argentina, I returned to Brigham Young University but made a change to a zoology/pre-optometry major. I graduated cum laude from the Southern California College of Optometry in June 1977.

Work experience includes 6-1/2 years as an optometrist in the military with stations in Texas, Germany, Oklahoma, and New Mexico and five years in a group practice in San Bernardino, California before moving to Utah in January 1989. I opened South Valley Eyecare in the summer of 1994 at its present location.

I actually planned the layout of the office on graph paper and then had it put into blueprint form by a professional. I chose all the equipment based on the data I wanted to collect so that I can give great care to my patients. Quality patient care is the number one job at this office. I want all our patients to have clear, comfortable vision and good eye health throughout their lives.

Outside the office, I have been active with the Utah Optometric Association including positions on various committees, as UOA-PAC chair, as an association board member, Executive Vice-President, and President.

Hobbies include reading, gardening and singing tenor with The Sally Bytheway Chorale. I am the father of four children and grandfather to seventeen.

Barbara A. Hardy, ABOC

Hi! My name is Bobbi Hardy. I was born and raised in Payson, Utah. After attending Brigham Young University, I have lived in Fullerton, California; Placentia, California; San Antonio Texas; Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Stuttgart, Germany; Lawton Oklahoma; San Bernardino, California; Alamogordo, New Mexico; Ogden, Utah; and Sandy, Utah as my husband’s schooling and military service kept us moving around.

I have worked in the optical business since January 1981. That is more than 33 years of knowledge and experience! I have been working at South Valley Eyecare since it opened its doors in the summer of 1994. I am currently the office General Manager. I am certified as an optician by the American Board of Opticianry (thus the ABOC after my name) and have an Associate Degree in accounting. Finding new frames to purchase and bring into the office that meets Dr. Hardy’s criteria of being quality and affordable is one of my favorite tasks. If you worry that you might pick something that doesn’t look good on you—won’t happen around me! Iam “frank and honest”. I want you to be our best advertisement.

Outside the practice, on my free time, I love to garden, both flower and vegetable. I currently have 1⁄4 acre that has two apple, one cherry, three peach, two plum, two nectarine and one apricot trees plus a LARGE vegetable garden with tomatoes, red potatoes, peas, corn, cucumber, zucchini, honeydew, Amy melon, pumpkin, bell peppers, hot peppers and onions. And, yes, I do bottle what I grow.

I also love to crochet and knit. I have even crocheted a queen size bed spread. I love to hike, ride my scooter and motorcycle, fish, and discover new places. I LOVE roller coasters—the bigger and faster the better.

Roberto Riesenberg

I was born in Cordoba, Argentina. My family moved to the United States when I was 14. I have worked in optical for 43 years and at South Valley Eyecare for nearly three. My job at South Valley Eyecare mainly involves helping people choose quality eyewear—a good-looking, well-fitting frame and proper lenses to meet their needs and helping keep them adjusted properly. I also do most of the lab work that we do here. This includes the lenses we cut here to fit patient’s frames, checking to make sure the outside labs have made the things they do properly, and dispensing the glasses to the patient.

Outside of the office, I like to play chess, golf, and watch my grandkids in their sports activities. One thing people might find interesting is that I speak Spanish, English and German.

Sabrina has been working at South Valley Eyecare for a few years. She is usually the first one in to the office to get the office ready for the rest of the staff. She is the one that tries to check on insurance coverage, get any authorizations needed, and works with patients to be sure they understand their coverage.

She has begun to work into a larger role doing some testing, contact lens training, and dispensing of eyeglasses and hopes to get her certification as an optician.

She has 2 children and a dog to keep her busy at home.

Sandy is an optician certified by the American Board of Opticians and has the unique distinction of having worked for Dr. Hardy twice. She was here for a few years, moved to St. George and worked for an optometrist there, and was immediately rehired when she moved back to the South Jordan area.

She currently works as the assistant manager and is the office Vision Source Resource rep for our office.

Her son keeps her very busy when not at work.
